HOUSING

Safe, Affordable, and Accessible Homes for All

For over 25 years, Bob Garretson has been dedicated to providing emergency and affordable housing through multiple organizations. His leadership and hands-on involvement have helped ensure that individuals and families—especially the most vulnerable—have access to stable housing.

A Proven Track Record of Housing Advocacy

Hagar’s House (Fresh Coast Alliance) – Muskegon, MI (2022-Present)

Bob and his wife, Heather, have partnered with Fresh Coast Alliance add other families to support Hagar’s House, a home for women re-entering the community or recovering from substance abuse.

Community enCompass (Bethany Housing) – Muskegon, MI (2008-2022)

As a longtime board member, chairman, and treasurer, Bob played a key role in revitalizing Muskegon’s neighborhoods. Community enCompass invested in permanent, transitional, and emergency housing for residents and veterans while also supporting initiatives like Muskegon Grows, Sacred Suds, and Youth Empowerment Programs.

SAVE Inc. – Kansas City, MO

Bob served as a volunteer and fundraiser for SAVE Inc., an organization that provided permanent, transitional, and emergency housing for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

A Vision for Muskegon’s Housing Future

Housing is more than just four walls—it’s the foundation for safety, dignity, and opportunity. Stable housing improves health outcomes, strengthens families, and supports education and employment.

As mayor, Bob will:

Support & Expand Existing Programs Continue the city’s Infill Housing program, but make sure it is meeting the needs of actual home buyers. Maximize the use of Brownfield tax incentives for smart redevelopment with more projects like Muskegon Central Park.

Push for Greater Investment – Work with city staff and community partners to address the decades- long shortage of quality, affordable housing.

Ensure Housing for All – Advocate for diverse housing solutions that serve seniors, working families, veterans, and those facing housing insecurity.

For Muskegon to grow and thrive, every resident needs access to safe, affordable housing.

That’s why Bob Garretson is running for mayor—to make sure everyone can Choose Muskegon.
